The word “shojo” means “young woman” in Japanese, and shojo anime typically features young girls or teenagers in the leading roles.

The stories found in shojo anime often revolve around deeper emotional themes compared to shonen, such as love, friendship, and coming-of-age stories.

Kimi Ni Todoke

Kimi-ni-Todoke-official-art-of-the-main-cast-walking-together-at-the-beach

Kimi ni Todoke is a staple shojo series that deserves to be on every anime fan’s watchlist, especially with the return of season 3 on Netflix. The anime follows Sawako, a 15-year-old girl in Hokkaido that is constantly picked on by her peers for her resemblance to Sadako from The Ring.

Despite her reputation, Sawako is very mild-mannered and kind. When the class clown and popular boy, Kazehaya, starts taking an interest in Sawako, her life gets flipped upside down as she’s finally able to live like a normal teenage girl; making friends and falling in love for the very first time.

The two eventually become friends, and then something more. The anime explores their relationship as they deal with the ups and downs of teenage love.

My Little Monster

Maid-Sama

Set in the modern day, Kaichou wa Maid-sama! is a story that follows the life of Misaki Ayuzawa. She’s the perfect example of a tough and independent woman; she’s strong, intelligent, and most importantly, she’s the president of her school’s student council.

But there’s just one little problem: Misaki secretly works part-time at a maid café in order to support her family. Of course, it doesn’t take long before Misaki’s biggest secret is revealed to the public by none other than her arch-rival, Takumi Usui.

But instead of using this information to blackmail her, Usui actually ends up falling in love with Misaki. And so begins a hilarious and heartwarming story of two people from completely different worlds learning to understand and accept one another.

Ouran High School Host Club

If you’re looking for a shoujo anime that’s both heartwarming and hilarious, then look no further than Ouran High School Host Club. The story follows Haruhi, a bright-eyed girl who stumbles into an elite club full of gorgeous boys who cater to the needs of female students.

While it may sound like a typical reverse-harem anime, Ouran High School Host Club is actually a clever satire that pokes fun at the shoujo genre while still managing to be a charming story in its own right.

Cardcaptor Sakura

Cardcaptor Sakura tells the story of Sakura Kinomoto, a fourth grader who discovers that she possesses magical powers after accidentally releasing a set of tarot cards from a book in her basement. She then embarks on a journey to capture all the cards while dealing with everyday life and relationships with her friends and family.

Cardcaptor Sakura has a rich history in the industry, and for many anime fans that grew up with old-school shojo, Sakura’s adventures made a huge impact on them as children, well into their adulthoods.

Vampire Knight

Vampire Knight introduces viewers to Yuuki Cross, a student at Cross Academy. The academy is home to two groups of students: the Day Class, which is made up of humans, and the Night Class, which consists of vampires.

Fruits Basket is the story of a girl, Tohru Honda, who’s living in a tent after her mom dies in a car accident. She then gets taken in by the Sohma family, who have a curse where they turn into animals from the Chinese zodiac when hugged by someone of the opposite sex.

Tohru tries to help break the curse and falls in love with one of the members. The anime adaptation of Fruits Basket was originally released in 2001 but it was remade in 2019. Both have a certain kind of charm that makes them an enjoyable watch.

Sailor Moon

The OG shoujo anime, Sailor Moon, is one of the most popular and enduring franchises of all time. It’s the story of a group of super-powered girls who use their powers to defend the world from evil. The show is full of action, romance, and comedy.

It is also significant for its strong female friendships and its positive portrayal of women in general. Sailor Moon definitely has something for everyone, not just young girls.

Best DC Movies Watch Order – How to Watch the Full DCEU in Order https://attackofthefanboy.com/entertainment/best-dc-movies-watch-order-how-to-watch-the-full-dceu-in-order/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/entertainment/best-dc-movies-watch-order-how-to-watch-the-full-dceu-in-order/#respond Thu, 30 Mar 2023 21:10:28 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=913034 The DC Extended Universe (DCEU) is a series of superhero films distributed by Warner Bros. and based on characters that appear in American comic books published by DC Comics.

The shared universe, much like the original DC Universe in comic books and the television programs, was established by crossing over common plot elements, settings, cast, and characters.

Whether you’re newly diving into the world of DC movies or you’re a longtime fan who wants to binge-watch the entire series in order, here’s the best watch order for the DC movies. For the context of this list, we’ve chosen chronological order based on the in-unvierse timeline.

Wonder Woman (2017)

dceu-movies-Wonder-Woman-
Image: Warner Bros. Pictures

The first film to watch in the DCEU is Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman. The story follows Diana (Gal Gadot), an Amazonian princess who discovers her true identity and destiny after meeting American pilot Steve Trevor (Chris Pine). She then sets out on a journey to stop World War I from happening.

The main story takes place from 1914 to 1918, which is the time period of World War I. However, there are also flashbacks to Diana’s childhood on Themyscira.

Wonder Woman 1984 (2020)

dceu-movies-Wonder-Woman-1984
Image: Warner Bros. Pictures

The sequel follows Diana working in the Smithsonian Museum and her encounter with the Dreamstone, which allows her to resurrect her deceased lover Steve Trevor. The film also introduces Barbara Minerva and Maxwell “Max Lord” Lorenzano, who steal the Dreamstone for their own selfish desires.

Wonder Woman 1984 explores the struggle between heroism and honesty when faced with difficult choices. Diana is tempted to use the Dreamstone to keep Steve Trevor alive, but she knows it’s not right. She must choose what’s best for the world, even if it means sacrificing her own happiness.

The DCEU film that started it all, Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel introduces Superman (Henry Cavill) as he tries to find his place in the world. Itlso sets up the conflict between him and General Zod (Michael Shannon). The cast includes Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, and Diane Lane as Martha Kent.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)

batman-vs-superman
Image: Warner Bros. Pictures

In Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the world’s greatest superheroes — Batman and Superman — go head-to-head in the ultimate showdown of good versus evil. Behind the scenes, BvS is where Warner Bros. took immediate action course-correcting their slate of films into a universe. If the movie feels muddled as a result, that’s because it is.

It’s a clash of the titans, as Batman (Ben Affleck), the world’s greatest detective, and Superman (Henry Cavill), the powerful alien from Krypton, come together for the first time on the big screen. But while they share a common goal—stopping Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) and his diabolical plans—they have very different methods of achieving it. And as the two clash, the planet is caught in the middle.

Suicide Squad (2016)

dceu-movies-suicide-squad
Image: Warner Bros. Pictures

In Suicide Squad, a secret government agency recruits some of the most dangerous criminals in the world to take on dangerous missions in exchange for reduced sentences. The team is then sent on a mission to track down and stop a powerful magical being called Enchantress.

It’s set in the aftermath of Superman’s death, which is why it comes after Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice since it helps to understand the context of Suicide Squad.

Justice League (2017) / Zack Snyder’s Justice League (2021)

Justice League follows a team of superheroes as they come together to stop Steppenwolf from conquering Earth. It features an ensemble cast including Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller, and Ray Fisher. The setting shows the heroes working together for the first time and provides context for their individual stories.

With more behind-the-scenes drama brewing, director Zack Snyder was forced to step away from production due to a personal tragedy. Marvel’s Avengers director Joss Whedon stepped in to finish, and the end result is a weird Frankenstein mess. Erasing Henry Cavill’s mustache still gives us chills.

With the dawn of streaming services and persistent fan outcry, Warner Bros. eventually cleared Snyder to finish his version of Justice League. In 2021, Zack Snyder’s Justice League released on HBO Max as a 4-hour cut that scrubbed Whedon’s interference clean and preserved Snyder’s original vision. It’s epic in scale, and arguably so long due to the absurd amount of slo-mo.

Aquaman (2018)

dceu-movies-aquaman
Image: Warner Bros. Pictures

Aquaman is a visual spectacle, with stunning visuals of the undersea world and some amazing action sequences. It’s also a great origin story for Aquaman, telling the tale of how he came to be the King of Atlantis.

Shazam! (2019)

dceu-movies-shazam
Image: Warner Bros. Pictures

Shazam! follows Billy Batson (Asher Angel), a streetwise 14-year-old who can transform into the adult superhero Shazam (Zachary Levi) by saying his name. While it lacks the high stakes of some of the other DC movies, Shazam! is a fun and lighthearted romp that’s perfect for introducing younger viewers to the world of superheroes.

Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) (2020)

harley-quinn-movie
Image: Warner Bros. Pictures

Birds of Prey showcases Harley Quinn’s emancipation from the Joker and cements her place as one of DC’s most badass characters. It provides a good introduction to Harley and the other main characters.

The Suicide Squad (2021)

dceu-movies-the-suicide-squad
Image: Warner Bros. Pictures

The Suicide Squad is a standalone sequel to the 2016 film and features the same format of enlisting a team of supervillains to complete a dangerous mission for the government. This time, it’s taking down Starro, an alien conqueror. The Suicide Squad is directed and written by James Gunn, who is known for his work on Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy films, and will lead the entire rebirth of DC’s future films.

The best way to watch The Suicide Squad is after you’ve seen all of the other DC movies. That way, you can appreciate all of the Easter eggs and references.

Black Adam (2022)

dceu-movies-black-adam
Image: Warner Bros. Pictures

Black Adam focuses on the anti-hero of the same name, played by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. The character is a former slave who was given superpowers by the wizard Shazam. There’s an interesting cameo in the mid-credits scene that DC fans should definitely watch out for.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods (2023)

shazam-fury-of-the-gods-1
Image: Warner Bros. Pictures

Shazam! Fury of the Gods is the sequel to Zachary Levi’s adventures as Billy Batson. In this film, Billy continues to struggles with growing up. Except this time, turning 18 means potentially losing a family he’s finally called his own. The Shazamily are still newbie superheroes and are still learning how to work together as a team. When a trio of ancient gods arrive in Boston in search of magic that’s tied to Billy, the Shazamily must join together to save the world from annihilation.

The followup to 2019’s Shazam! came and went like a pebble thrown into a lake. Meaning, Shazam! Fury of the Gods failed to make a splash with audiences. As James Gunn inches closer toward resetting the DC Universe, fans weren’t interested in showing up to a movie that no longer connects to the larger picture.

It won’t be long until The Flash officially resets the current DC timeline in June 2023.

All Xbox Generations in Order of Release Date https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/all-xbox-generations-in-order-of-release-date/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/all-xbox-generations-in-order-of-release-date/#respond Fri, 24 Mar 2023 21:47:04 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=894706 Xbox is a line of video game consoles created by Microsoft. The first Xbox was released on November 2001 in North America, followed by Australia and Europe in 2002. The original Xbox was discontinued in 2006, but it still has a loyal fan base today. Since then, there have been more Xbox consoles released. These consoles are still actively supported by Microsoft, with new games and updates being released regularly.

That said, here are all the Xbox consoles in order of release date.

Every Xbox Console in Release Order

Xbox (2001)

first-gen-xbox
Image: Microsoft

The first Xbox was Microsoft’s first foray into the gaming console market. It was powered by a 733 MHz Intel Pentium III processor and had 256 MB of RAM. The system also had a hard drive for storing games and other data. The first Xbox could connect to the internet via a dial-up connection or broadband adapter. It was discontinued in 2005, but the original Xbox laid the foundation for Microsoft’s gaming console business, which would go on to release the Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Xbox Series.

Xbox 360 (2005)

second-gen-xbox-360
Image: Evan Amos / Wikipedia

The second generation of the Xbox 360 was released in 2005. The console featured a new design, a smaller form factor, and an upgraded processor. It also included support for HDMI and 1080p output. Many users felt that the second-gen Xbox 360 was a significant improvement over the original model with its three-core 3.2 GHz PowerPC processor with 512 RAM.

With its more powerful hardware, it allowed Xbox 360 to produce 1080 p visuals up to 60 fps. What gave Xbox 360 its major edge over its predecessor was its audio capabilities supported by Dolby Digital 5.1, which allowed a major upgrade for an immersive gaming experience. Lastly, Xbox 360, with its upgraded online capabilities, allowed gamers to play with or against each other across platforms and download movies, music, and other services.

Xbox 360 S (2010)

second-gen-xbox-360-S
Image: Evan Amos / Wikipedia

In 2010, Microsoft released the Xbox 360 S (Slim). The console was a big improvement over its predecessor in terms of hardware. It had a larger hard drive, a built-in Wi-Fi adapter, and a smaller form factor. The Xbox 360 S also came with Kinect support out of the box and was very successful, selling well over 80 million units worldwide.

Aside from its size being its major difference as compared to its predecessor (Xbox 360), Xbox 360 S came with a 250 GB hard drive along with its upgraded hardware. This made it ideal for players who need additional storage for all their games and other forms of media. Xbox 360 S featured a built-in Media Center app allowing you to stream Netflix and Hulu Plus. When it comes to gaming, Xbox 360 S and Xbox 360 did not have much difference in the immersive experience they could provide.

Xbox 360 E (2013)

second-gen-xbox-360-E
Image: Evan Amos / Wikipedia

Xbox 360 E (Elite) is the last of the second-generation Xbox 360s. It was released in November 2013 and discontinued in 2016. It is similar to the Xbox One S in terms of specs, with a slightly upgraded CPU and GPU. The biggest difference is its lack of an optical drive, which was replaced by a 1TB hard drive. It also came with a Kinect sensor.

As far as performance goes, the Xbox 360 S has more power under the hood and can handle more intense gaming experiences, while the Xbox 360 E has less power and is better suited to more casual gaming. In terms of connectivity, both Xbox 360 E and Xbox 360 S feature Wi-Fi and HDMI outputs. Xbox 360 E does not have HD DVD drives and lacks an Ethernet port. The ability to accept up to two additional controllers via USB ports is what sets apart Xbox 360 E from its predecessors.

Xbox One (2013)

third-gen-xbox-one
Image: Evan Amos / Wikipedia

The third-gen Xbox One was released in 2013 and was the first of its kind to offer a truly next-generation gaming experience. It featured an all-new design, powerful internals, and an impressive lineup of launch titles that included Forza Motorsport 5 and Ryse: Son of Rome.

The Xbox One struggled initially against the more powerful PlayStation 4 but has since found its footing and is now considered one of the best consoles on the market. It has a strong line-up of exclusives that includes the likes of Halo 5: Guardians, Gears of War 4, and Forza Horizon 3.

The console is also now a part of Microsoft’s “One X” initiative, which means it is compatible with all Xbox One games. It also has the added bonus of being able to play some select Xbox 360 and original Xbox titles, like Final Fantasy XIII, Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD, and Prince of Persia.

Xbox One S (2016)

third-gen-xbox-one-S
Image: Microsoft

The Xbox One S was released in 2016 as the third generation of Xbox consoles. It is a slimmer version of the original Xbox One and comes with a range of new features including 4K video output, Blu-ray player support (allowing users to watch movies in stunning Ultra-HD resolution), and quantum dot display technology. This third-gen Xbox also has an updated user interface with a new home screen and dashboard design.

In terms of performance, both consoles offer similar gaming experiences with no significant differences between them. However, the Xbox One S is capable of running games at slightly higher frame rates thanks to its more powerful GPU and faster processor. Additionally, the Xbox One S supports HDR, which gives games a more vibrant and immersive look.

Xbox One X (2017)

third-gen-xbox-one-X
Image: Microsoft

This console was released in 2017 and boasts some pretty impressive specs. It has a more powerful architecture compared to Xbox One S with its six Teraflop GPU, 12 GB of GDDR5 memory, and a 2.3 GHz octa-core processor, making it capable of running games at higher resolutions and frame rates, which makes it better suited for 4K gaming. The X, as mentioned, supports 4K resolution and HDR gaming. It is backward compatible with all Xbox One games and accessories, as well as many Xbox 360 games.

In terms of storage, Xbox One X offers a significant upgrade, compared to its predecessors, of 1 TB internal storage. Furthermore, it even supports external hard drives via its USB ports, allowing for an expansion of its capacity for up to 2 TB. If you are looking for a powerful gaming console that can handle 4K gaming and provide lots of storage space for your games and media files, then the Xbox One X is a great option.

Xbox Series X (2020)

fourth-gen-xbox-series-X
Image: Microsoft

The latest release in the Xbox series is the Xbox Series X. This console, a chunky box-shaped console that takes up more space than its slimmer counterpart was released in 2020 and is the most powerful one yet. It has a custom-designed CPU, GPU, and SSD. The CPU is eight times more powerful than that of the Xbox One and the GPU is four times more powerful. The SSD allows for much faster loading times and overall gameplay. Another new feature of this console is that it can play games at 120 frames per second.

The Xbox Series X offers more raw power than the Xbox Series S with its 8-core AMD Zen 2 CPU and 12 teraflops of GPU power. This makes it the ideal choice for gamers who want to play demanding titles at their highest settings. In terms of storage capacity, Xbox Series X comes with a 1 TB hard drive, and it supports external storage such as USB drives or external hard drives whenever you find yourself needing additional space. The Xbox Series X offers more power and storage, making it the better choice for gamers who want to experience cutting-edge titles at 4K resolution.

Xbox Series S (2020)

fourth-gen-xbox-series-S
Image: Microsoft

The Xbox Series S was released alongside the more powerful Xbox Series X. The two consoles share many features, but the main difference is that the Xbox Series S targets 1440p resolution at 60fps instead of 4K like the Xbox Series X. This makes the Xbox Series S a more affordable option for those who don’t have a 4K TV or don’t care about 4K gaming.

As Xbox Series S is a more budget-friendly option, it still offers plenty of power with its four core/8 thread AMD Zen 2 processor and four teraflops of GPU performance. While not quite as powerful as Xbox Series X, this console still packs enough punch to run most modern games without sacrificing too much in terms of visuals. In terms of storage, it comes with 512 GB storage capacity making it more suitable for gamers who do not need as much space for their games and other media. If you are looking for a more affordable option that still gets the job done, then the Xbox Series S may be just what you need.

Longest GTA Games, Ranked https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/longest-gta-games-ranked/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/longest-gta-games-ranked/#respond Tue, 07 Mar 2023 22:40:19 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=894719 Grand Theft Auto (GTA) is a video game series set in fictional locales heavily modeled after real-world locations, typically within the United States. All games in the series use an open-world design, allowing the player to freely roam the game world. The games are known for their violence, controversy, and use of strong language. With so many amazing games in the series, it’s hard to choose just one. If you want to try all games in the series, you can do so according to playtime. Here are the longest GTA games in the series.

7. Grand Theft Auto III (16 hours)

gta-iii
Image via Rockstar Games

Just a bit longer than Liberty City Stories but still a pretty hefty time investment, Grand Theft Auto III is one of the most open-ended games on this list. The game gives you a massive city to explore, with plenty of side missions and activities to keep you busy for hours on end. What’s more, the game features a variety of weapons and vehicles to help you get around, making it an incredibly satisfying experience for any player.

6. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories (16.5 hours)

gta-vice-city-stories
Image via Rockstar Games

Coming in sixth place is 2006’s Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories. This game is a prequel to the events of Vice City and follows Vic Vance as he tries to escape his life of crime. The game is set in 1984 and features a huge open world to explore. The playtime is around 16.5 hours, depending on how you play it. You can choose to complete the many missions in the game or just explore and cause mayhem. All in all, it provides a great, lengthy experience.

Related: 3 Best GTA RP Servers and How to Start Playing Them

5. Grand Theft Auto: Episodes From Liberty City (19.5 hours)

gta-episodes-from-liberty-city
Image via Rockstar Games

Episodes from Liberty City is the expansion pack for GTA IV and includes two new stories that take place in the same city. The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony are well-written and interesting, but they can be quite long. This may be why the game has an average playtime of 19.5 hours. It also has some of the best open-world activities available, which can add hours to your playtime. You can spend hours just cruising around the city, completing side missions and activities.

4. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (19.5 hours)

gta-vice-city
Image via Rockstar Games

Similar to Episodes from Liberty City, Vice City is an open-world game that can be completed in more or less 20 hours. The story sees you controlling Tommy Vercetti as he rises through the ranks of the criminal underworld in 1980s Vice City. Along the way, you’ll undertake a variety of missions that will see you robbing banks, assassinating rival gangsters, and generally causing mayhem. It also features a number of side missions, including races, rampages, and hidden packages that can keep you occupied for hours.

3. Grand Theft Auto IV (28 hours)

gta-iv
Image via Rockstar Games

GTA IV jumps to over 28 hours of gameplay when all missions are completed. That’s a lot of time for Niko Bellic to explore Liberty City, and there’s plenty to do. The main story is fantastic, but the real meat lies in the side quests and minigames. Whether it’s bowling, darts, or visiting strip clubs, there’s always something to keep you busy in GTA 4. The game also features some of the most memorable characters in the GTA universe, such as Brucie Kibbutz and Little Jacob.

Related: Best Cars in GTA V Online

2. Grand Theft Auto V (31.5 hours)

gta-v
Image via Rockstar Games

GTA V is one of the longest games in the series by a wide margin. It’s not just that the main story is longer than any of its predecessors—it’s that there are so many more things to do in Los Santos. Between the three protagonists, there are several missions to complete. And that’s not counting side activities like heists, races, collectibles, and random events. Even if you stick to the main storyline, you’re looking at a game that will take you over 30 hours to beat.

1. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (31.5 hours)

gta-san-andreas
Image via Rockstar Games

In GTA: San Andreas, players also have to clock in about 31 hours to complete the game. That’s a lot of time, but it’s also what made San Andreas one of the most beloved entries in the series. The story follows Carl “CJ” Johnson as he returns to his hometown of Los Santos after his mother’s murder. From there, players are free to explore the massive open world, engage in criminal activity, and build up Carl’s reputation. The game is packed with things to do and see, making it one of the most replayable entries in the series. We also massive fans of the engaging story, beautifully written OST, and voice acting. It’s not just the best GTA game but one of the best games of all time.

Top 7 Best Movies Like Memento https://attackofthefanboy.com/entertainment/best-movies-like-memento/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/entertainment/best-movies-like-memento/#respond Tue, 24 Jan 2023 18:30:00 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=888751 Memento is a 2000 American neo-noir psychological thriller film directed by Christopher Nolan. The movie’s script was based on a short story, “Memento Mori,” written by Jonathan Nolan. The film stars Guy Pearce as Leonard Shelby, a man with anterograde amnesia (inability to form new memories), who is tracking down his wife’s murderer.

The nonlinear narrative structure of Memento has led to it being discussed as an example of reverse causation. The film has been ranked by many critics as one of the best films of its decade and is particularly praised for its originality, clever writing, direction, and performances.

If you’re looking for more movies like Memento, check out our list below. We’ve included a variety of films that share similar themes and elements with Nolan’s masterpiece:

The Machinist (2004)

As Trevor’s mental state deteriorates, he becomes obsessed with finding out the truth behind his co-worker’s mysterious death.

It’s directed by Brad Anderson and also stars Jennifer Jason Leigh, John Sharian, and Aitana Sánchez-Gijón. It’s similar to Memento in that it’s a mind-bending thriller that will keep you guessing until the very end.

Shutter Island (2010)

movies-like-memento-shutter-island

With an eerily similar opening to Memento — a man wakes up in a hospital with no memory of how he got there — Shutter Island is another psychological thriller that will have you questioning everything you thought you knew.

Leonardo DiCaprio stars as U.S. Marshal Edward “Teddy” Daniels, who is sent to investigate the disappearance of a patient from Shutter Island’s mental hospital. But the more Teddy investigates, the more he realizes that there is much more going on than meets the eye.

12 Monkeys (1995)

Directed by Terry Gilliam, this mind-bending sci-fi thriller stars Bruce Willis as a time traveler from the future who’s sent back in time to save the human race from a deadly virus. Brad Pitt co-stars as a fellow inmate at a mental institution who may or may not be able to help him.

It’s a complex and confusing story, told in a non-linear fashion that will leave you guessing until the very end. If you’re looking for a movie that’s similar to Memento in terms of its mind-bending plot, 12 Monkeys is definitely worth checking out.

Oldboy (2003)

Oldboy is a South Korean revenge thriller film directed by Park Chan-wook. The film stars Choi Min-sik as the protagonist, Oh Dae-su. After being inexplicably imprisoned for 15 years, he is released and sets out to find his captor to get revenge. It’s critically acclaimed, and like Memento, features non-linear storytelling.

The Jacket (2005)

movies-like-memento-the-jacket
Image: Warner Pictures

Jack Starks (Adrien Brody) is a Gulf War veteran who returns home to Vermont suffering from amnesia. His doctors believe that Jack’s memory loss is the result of a trauma sustained during the war and that if he can remember what happened to him, his condition will improve.

To this end, they subject him to a controversial treatment in which he is placed in a jacket that constricts his body and limits his movement. The hope is that by doing this, Jack will be forced to confront his memories and hopefully regain his lost memories.

The Jacket is a psychological thriller that is similar to Memento in its use of non-linear storytelling and its focus on memory and its role in our lives. Both movies are also visually striking, with The Jacket making use of some interesting camera techniques to disorient the viewer and add to the sense of confusion that Jack is feeling.

The Sixth Sense (1999)

movies-like-memento-the-sixth-sense
Image: Buena Vista Pictures

This famous thriller has garnered critical acclaim for its plot twists and shock value. Starring Bruce Willis as a child psychologist who tries to help a young boy who claims to see dead people, the film features some truly eerie moments.

If you’re a fan of Memento’s non-linear storytelling, then you’ll definitely enjoy The Sixth Sense, which features a similar structure with a huge twist at the end.

The Prestige (2006)

movies-like-memento-the-prestige
Image: Warner Bros.

This Christopher Nolan classic tells the story of two magicians in Victorian England who engage in a deadly battle with one another after one steals the other’s secrets. Like Memento, The Prestige features a complex plot with multiple timelines that will keep you guessing until the very end.

Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman‘s performances are both magnetic, and the film’s stunning visuals will leave you spellbound. If you’re looking for a mind-bending thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat, The Prestige is a must-watch.

Taika Waititi directed one of the best Marvel movies yet with Thor: Ragnarok. The movie is hilarious, but also has some excellent action and drama. Chris Hemsworth is great as Thor, and the supporting cast including Tom Hiddleston, Cate Blanchett, Jeff Goldblum, and Mark Ruffalo are all superb. He also played Korg, a character that he really brought to life and who is one of the best things about the movie.

What We Do In The Shadows (2014)

This mockumentary comedy follows the everyday lives of four vampires who share a flat in Wellington, New Zealand. Though its set-up may not sound like much, What We Do In The Shadows is one of the funniest films in recent memory, thanks largely to the deadpan delivery of its cast and Waititi’s sharp direction. If you’re a fan of The Office or Parks and Recreation, you’ll find plenty to enjoy here.

Hunt for the Wilderpeople (2016)

Taika Waititi directed, co-wrote, and starred in this heartwarming film about a foster kid and his grumpy foster dad who go on the run in the New Zealand bush. It’s funny, touching, and visually gorgeous, which is why it’s considered as one of his best works.

The coming-of-age story follows Ricky (Julian Dennison), a city kid who’s been placed with Bella (Rima Te Wiata) and Hec (Sam Neill) in the rural New Zealand bush. When Bella unexpectedly dies, Ricky and Hec find themselves on the run from child services, which results in them forming an unlikely bond.

For COD games like Warzone and Modern Warfare, you can change your username through your Activision account. Just log in to the official website and go to Options > Accounts. Find the Change Display Name option to change and confirm your new username. You can change your username through Activision every six months for free.

On Mobile

call-of-duty-mobile

If you’re playing Call of Duty: Mobile on an iOS or Android device, the process for changing your username is a little different. First, you have to pay to change your name. You can do this by opening the in-game store and buying the Rename Card.

Once you’ve done that, just click on the newly bought item and enter the new name you want.

Tips When Choosing the Best COD Username

Don’t Use Your Real Name

Never use your full name to identify yourself online. This is for your own safety, as well as to keep your identity private. If you want to personalize your username, stick to using your first name and add some cool characters or numbers after it.

Find One That Reflects Your Personality

When thinking of the best COD username, consider something that would reflect your personality. If you’re funny, try to be humorous with your username. If you’re cool and collected, go for something that represents that. You want people playing with you online to get an idea of who you are just by looking at your username.

You can even use puns on your first name to come up with a funny or cool username. This way, people will already have an idea of your personality before they even start playing with you.

Keep It Short

Keep your username at a maximum of 12 characters. This will make it easier for your friends to find you on their friends list if they want to play with you.

Stay Wholesome

You can actually get reported for having an offensive name. As such, stay away from using any racial or sexual slurs in your username. You might think it’s funny, but someone else might not and could get you into trouble.

Stick to something simple and inoffensive. This will make it more likely that people will want to play with you online. Moreover, you don’t want to be targeted for trash-talking and bullying, nor should you want to be the offensive person in the room.

Consider a Random Name Generator

You can find plenty of random name generators online that can help you come up with the best COD username. Simply enter some keywords related to what you’re looking for, and the generator will spit out a bunch of possible options.

How to Read the Witcher Books in Order https://attackofthefanboy.com/entertainment/how-to-read-the-witcher-books-in-order/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/entertainment/how-to-read-the-witcher-books-in-order/#respond Mon, 26 Dec 2022 16:29:00 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=880461 The Witcher book series is a set of five novels written by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski. The books follow the story of Geralt of Rivia, a Witcher — a professional monster hunter with supernatural abilities.

The series has been adapted into a hugely successful video game franchise, and two TV shows are currently in production on Netflix. With such a high profile, it’s no wonder that people are interested in reading the books that started it all. Whether you’re new or a returning fan, here’s how to read The Witcher books in order:

The Last Wish

the-witcher-books-the-last-wish
Image: Sapkowski Books

Although The Last Wish is, technically, the third book released in the Witcher series, it is actually the very first book in the chronology of the stories. This book consists of a collection of stories that Geralt, our main character, has experienced during his many years as a Witcher.

Many of these stories are actually flashbacks and only make sense if you already know what happens later on in the series. Think of it as a prequel collection of short stories, rather than a traditional novel. One story that stands out is “The Lesser Evil,” which is about Geralt being caught in the middle of Stregobor and Renfri, needing to decide whom to trust. This thought-provoking story lets the reader make the judgment on the characters’ actions rather than depict one as more or less evil than the other.

Sword of Destiny

the-witcher-books-sword-of-destiny-1
Image: Sapkowski Books

The second book, Sword of Destiny, comes after The Witcher (1990, only released in Poland). Just like The Last Wish, it’s a collection of short stories that depict Geralt’s early years. The stories in this book are a little more serious than in the last one, and they focus on Geralt’s further development as a Witcher.

“A Shard of Ice” and “A Little Sacrifice” are two notable stories in this book. The former tells of Geralt’s complicated relationship with Yennefer, while the latter talks about his affair with Essi, a female minstrel.

Blood of Elves

the-witcher-books-blood-of-elves-2
Image: Sapkowski Books

Blood of Elves is officially the start of the Witcher Saga. This is the book where Geralt finally meets Ciri, the girl who will change his life forever.

You can start with this book if you want to read the main storyline right away. However, we highly recommend reading the short story collections above first. They’re not essential to the plot, but they provide important backstories and context that will make your experience with Blood of Elves much richer.

Time of Contempt

the-witcher-books-time-of-contempt-2
Image: Sapkowski Books

After Blood of Elves comes Time of Contempt. This time, Geralt of Rivia returns to his home country of Brokilon, where he has been living in self-imposed exile for the past twelve years.

The forest of Brokilon is a magical place and it is said that time does not exist there. But when Geralt enters the forest, he finds that things have changed: the elves are now at war with the humans and Geralt is caught in the middle.

Time of Contempt is a dark and complex novel that deals with themes of prejudice, betrayal, and loss. It is also considered one of the most beautifully written books in the series.

Baptism of Fire

the-witcher-books-baptism-of-fire-1
Image: Sapkowski Books

In Baptism of Fire, Geralt finally has his memories back and goes on a mission to rescue the princess Ciri. The book itself is split into two parts, the first part follows Geralt and Dandelion as they travel to meet up with some friends of Dandelion’s. The second half follows Ciri as she tries to stay ahead of the Wild Hunt.

While the Witcher series is known for its no-nonsense depiction of violence, Baptism of Fire seems particularly more dark and gritty. The book does not shy away from the horrific elements, whether from monsters or men.

The Tower of the Swallow

the-witcher-books-the-tower-of-the-swallow-2
Image: Sapkowski Books

In this book, Ciri, Geralt’s adopted daughter, is on the run from the Wild Hunt. She ends up in the city of Novigrad where she meets a group of dwarves. They offer to help her find Geralt if she helps them with a heist. It turns out the heist is a trap set by the king of the city and Ciri is captured. Geralt arrives just in time to save her and they defeat the king and his men.

The Lady of the Lake

the-witcher-books-the-lady-of-the-lake-2
Image: Sapkowski Books

The Lady of the Lake is the final book in Andrzej Sapkowski’s Witcher series. This time, Geralt of Rivia is on a mission to find and save Ciri, the daughter of his late friend Yennefer. He is also dealing with some personal demons, as well as the political machinations of Nilfgaard. The book has many twists and turns and is an exciting conclusion to the series.

Optional: Season of Storms

the-witcher-books-season-of-storms-1
Image: Sapkowski Books

Season of Storms is a standalone novel that’s set years after The Witcher saga. Here, Geralt finds himself battling a monster that’s been terrorizing a small town. While the novel does provide some closure to Geralt’s character, this is an optional read and isn’t necessarily part of the main arc. If you’re interested in reading it, it’s best to do so after finishing the saga.

Why Wasn’t The Clone Wars Released in Chronological Order?

The Clone Wars television series was released out of chronological order because of creative decisions made by the show’s producers. George Lucas and Dave Filoni, the supervising director of The Clone Wars, decided that it would be more interesting to model the show to a monthly comic book series.

In a monthly comic book series, the story is told out of chronological order and each issue is its own self-contained story. This allowed The Clone Wars to be more flexible with its storytelling.

Lucas also opted to jump around the timeline and give focus to multiple characters rather than a single protagonist. This way, viewers would get a more well-rounded understanding of the entire franchise.
